More than 10 million tourists visit the resort each year.

The resort was founded in 1854 by Dutch colonialists.

It is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the Spanish-speaking part of the world.

More holidaymakers visited Vallegasas this year than anywhere, as a combination of a cooling season and the summer heat wave brought with it an influx of holidaymakers.
