Mexico is “not going away” anytime soon, Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto said Tuesday.

Pena Nieto spoke to US President Donald Trump on the phone and congratulated him on the success of the recent border fence.

Perna Nieto told reporters that Mexico will continue to negotiate with the US, even as tensions rise.

The border wall, which has been in place since November 2016, is part of an ongoing US-led push to control the region that has brought millions of migrants to Mexico, prompting a wave of violent protests.
